A Vacaville man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man who was severely beaten at a Fourth of July celebration, police said today. Anthony Jose Ruiz, 31, was arrested Friday on suspicion of manslaughter, probation violation and a narcotics-related warrant in connection with the death of Tyler Grande, Vacaville police said today.
Grande, a 20-year-old Vacaville resident, was found at 11:55 p.m. on July 4th on the 100 block of Garden Circle unconscious and suffering from a head injury, according to police. An estimated 200 people were taking part in the celebration, but police could not locate anyone who saw how Grande was injured.
Grande had surgery to relieve swelling of the brain, but died July 15 due to traumatic brain injury. Detectives tracked Ruiz to the 100 block of Rutherford Drive on Friday and attempted to arrest him on an unrelated warrant. He allegedly attempted to flee but was captured a short time later and was charged with Grande’s killing after an interview.
