A man was robbed and pistol-whipped while changing a tire on his car near San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood late Wednesday night, police said today. The robbery was reported at about 11:50 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Street and Evans Avenue. The 35-year-old victim was working on the car when a suspect approached, pulled out a handgun and demanded his wallet, according to police.

After the victim handed over the wallet, the suspect struck him in the head with the handgun and ran away. Described as a man in his 40s, he had not been found as of this morning, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for a cut to the forehead.
