A hamster was taken from a Fremont day care center this week, Fremont police reported Friday. The hamster was taken from the Bay Area Day Care Center, which is based at Patterson Elementary School, located at 35521 Cabrillo Drive, some time in the past few days, police said. Police suspect the hamster-thief also intentionally broke lights at the elementary school. There are no suspect leads, police said. An outgoing message at Patterson Elementary School said the school is closed until classes resume on Sept. 5.
