Monterey County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a Castroville boy Thursday evening. Around 7 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of Wood and Jackson streets where a boy had been shot by a suspect in a truck passing in front of his house, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said the juvenile victim had been shot by a man in the front passenger seat of a truck carrying four men.

The boy said he did not know the shooter or any of the other three suspects. The suspect vehicle was described as a gray or silver 90s model Ford F-150 pickup truck that was lowered and had chrome rims and tinted windows. It was last seen traveling east on Wood Street towards Del Monte Avenue, sheriff’s officials said. The boy was shot with a small-caliber silver revolver. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.
