Monterey County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a sexual assault in progress in Bradley on Monday night and detained a suspect who was trying to flee. The assault was reported around 9 p.m. at an undisclosed address. By the time deputies arrived, the suspect had left, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies set up a perimeter and searched the neighborhood with the help of the Fort Hunter Liggett Police Department and a California Highway Patrol helicopter. They eventually located the suspect, 34-year-old Jason States, and took him into custody, sheriff’s officials said. States was booked into Monterey County Jail. The case remains under investigation, deputies said.
