A man was wounded in a shooting in Richmond early this morning, a police spokeswoman said. The shooting occurred at about 3 a.m. in the 2100 block of Nevin Avenue, a few blocks from the Richmond BART station. The victim, who is in his late 20s, was shot multiple times in the leg, police Lt. Bisa French said. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made in the case, and the victim is not cooperating with investigators, French said. The shooting happened in the same block where Edwin Arnold Martinez, a 22-year-old college student, was gunned down in January. Martinez was sitting in a parked car with his sister shortly before 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 when a man on foot wearing dark clothing fired into the vehicle, police said.

The shooter had been chasing a light-colored car that was speeding out of the area just before he turned the gun on Martinez’s car, according to police. Martinez was about to head to a class at Contra Costa College at the time he was killed, police said. His sister was unhurt.
