* Jose Rubio Pavon 12 Year Old Boy with Inoperable Brain Tumor Sworn in as Brighton’s Youngest Police Officer Dies

Police officers in Brighton, Colorado swore in 12 year old Jose Rubio Pavon during a ceremony in his hospice room. Officers Anna Marie Cuney, Levy Slagle and Cpl. Monce Portillo presented with a a police uniform shirt and a junior officer badge and a certificate officially recognizing him as a member of the Brighton Police Department.

Jose with an inoperable brain tumor who was sworn in as Brighton’s youngest police officer died Friday. In May, Jose was swore in during a ceremony in his hospice room. Jose had always wanted to be a police officer.

A police and fire procession will travel to the funeral where they will conduct an honorary ceremony for Jose as part of the proceedings. Some officers had to take a few days off to recover from what was described as “a rough couple days.”
