A man is in serious condition today after being beaten by a coworker Wednesday morning in San Leandro, police said. Officers responded to the report of an assault in the 1000 block of Doolittle Drive just before 10 a.m., police said.

Police said witnesses told them the man, said to be in his 20s, got in a heated argument with a coworker. Oakland resident Esteban Zamora, 20, armed himself with a bat and struck the man repeatedly, as well as kicked him with steal-toe boots, according to police. Witnesses told police the man brought himself to a hospital and Zamora left the area before officers arrived. Zamora remains at large and detectives are investigating the case.
