A 35-year-old El Sobrante woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murdering a Richmond Heights woman earlier this month, a Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said today.Sheriff’s deputies arrested Karla Kuhl on Tuesday in connection with the slaying of Patricia Medeiros, 58, who was found dead at her Richmond Heights home on June 5, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Around 5 a.m. June 5, sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders responded to a medical call at Medeiros’ home in the 6000 block of North Arlington Boulevard in unincorporated Richmond, according to the sheriff’s office. Medeiros was found dead, and an autopsy later revealed she had died of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.
After interviews and investigation, sheriff’s investigators learned that Kuhl and Medeiros had gotten into a fight before the victim’s death, Lee said. Lee did not immediately return calls for comment this afternoon, and it is unclear how the two women knew each other. Kuhl is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $1 million bail.
