Oakland police responded to an unusually high number of robberies across the city over a 24-hour period that began Monday morning. Fourteen robberies and three carjackings were reported between 4 a.m. Monday and 4 a.m. today, Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said.
The robberies occurred throughout the city, and there is no immediate indication they are connected, although they all remain under investigation, Watson said.
