San Rafael police arrested a 34-year-old man Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl over the past two years, a police spokeswoman said. The mother of the girl reported the alleged sexual abuse to police Thursday morning, police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.
Police arrested Carlos Rene Caamal Ruiz of San Rafael at an apartment on Larkspur Street late Thursday afternoon. He was booked into the Marin County jail on charges that include aggravated sexual assault of a child, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old and sending harmful matter with intent to seduce. Ruiz is being held under $1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning in Marin County Superior Court. Police did not disclose Ruiz’s relationship to the girl or her mother.
