A bakery employee was shot in the hand Tuesday night during an armed robbery in the Monterey County town of Chular, according to the sheriff’s office. At about 6:50 p.m., deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at Alma’s Bakery at 25482 Payson St., according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
Two men wearing handkerchiefs had entered the bakery and demanded cash. An employee was shot in the hand as one of the suspects broke into the cash register, according to the sheriff’s office. An undetermined amount of money was stolen and the suspects fled the area on foot. The employee was given medical treatment for the hand injury and is expected to survive.
