Two Prunedale residents were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of burglarizing at least half a dozen cars in recent weeks, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. Just after 4 p.m. Saturday, deputies arrested Heather Erhman and Matthew Clark, both 26, after pulling over their car at the Prunedale Shopping Center at San Miguel Canyon and Moro roads, sheriff’s officials said.

During the stop, deputies discovered several items that had been reported stolen in recent auto burglaries in the Prunedale area, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies have returned some of that stolen property to six victims. The sheriff’s office is still trying to locate the owners of some of the other property found in the car.

Sheriff’s investigators have been looking into numerous burglaries in the area in which a red Toyota 4Runner matching the suspects’ vehicle was spotted. Clark, a transient, was wanted on a parole violation. He and Erhman, who lives in Prunedale, were arrested and booked into jail.
