The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent hate crime that took place last week in the town of Guerneville. On Thursday, a 49-year-old man contacted the sheriff’s office and said that he had been assaulted when he left a gay bar downtown earlier in the week.
The man said he was assaulted on Third Street by at least one individual who used anti-gay threats and slurs during the attack, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim suffered cuts and abrasions in the assault, which is being investigated as a hate crime.
