The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident in the unincorporated community of Montalvin Manor on Monday evening in which a man allegedly abducted and assaulted his girlfriend, a sheriff’s spokesman said. At 6:40 p.m., deputies responded to a home in the 300 block of Michele Drive, near Richmond, after receiving a report of a suspicious circumstance, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Deputies did not find anyone at the home, but about 90 minutes later, the suspect, 24-year-old Curtis Mahaffey, of Montalvin Manor, and his girlfriend were located as they drove back to the residence, Lee said. Mahaffey was interviewed and then arrested. He is being held at the Contra Costa County Main Jail without bail on suspicion of kidnapping, torture, domestic violence, false imprisonment and violating parole. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (925) 313-2600.
