* Gilbert Lovato motorcyclist was injured in San Francisco allegedly attempting to evade police

A motorcyclist was injured in San Francisco this morning after he allegedly drove through a red light and attempted to evade a California Highway Patrol officer.Gilbert Lovato, 58, of San Francisco, was allegedly seen driving through a stoplight at Fourth and Harrison Streets at about 9:30 a.m., CHP Officer Michael Ferguson sad. Lovato was pursued on to southbound U.S. Highway 101, where he reached speeds between 60 mph and 65 mph in a 50 mph zone, Ferguson said.

The pursuing officer turned on his lights in an effort to get Lovato to pull over, but he refused to yield, Ferguson said. Lovato exited Highway 101 at Cesar Chavez Street, where he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. The off-ramp was shut down for about an hour while the crash was cleared, Ferguson said. Lovato, who suffered a broken arm in the crash, will likely be charged with reckless driving and evading an officer, Ferguson said. The suspect was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition.
