A woman walking through a San Leandro elementary school early Thursday morning was sexually assaulted and robbed, police said today. The 60-year-old woman was walking through Roosevelt School at 951 Dowling Blvd. just before 1 a.m. when she was approached by a man, police said. The man attempted to engage her in conversation, but when the woman said she didn’t want to talk, he told her he had a weapon and then pushed her down on the ground and “touched her inappropriately,” police said.
The woman tried to defend herself, and the suspect ripped her fanny pack off and fled south off the school property. The victim sustained some abrasions, and lost miscellaneous personal items that were in the fanny pack. Police are asking for members of the public with information on this attack to come forward.
