A Napa WalMart employee was arrested Thursday evening for allegedly embezzling gift cards worth $1,000 from his employer, according to Napa police. Police arrived at the WalMart at 681 Lincoln Ave. shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday and arrested Samuel Serle Schaffer, 22, of Vallejo. Police said that Schaffer is suspected of providing a co-conspirator with two store gift cards worth $500 each on June 6.

Between that day and June 9, Schaffer and his co-conspirator went to the Walmart in American Canyon and used the embezzled gift cards to purchase $949.73 worth of merchandise, police said. Schaffer was booked into Napa County Detention Center on suspicion of embezzlement and conspiracy, police said.
