* Jason Chess fatally shot in East Oakland

A man who was fatally shot in East Oakland late Tuesday morning has been identified as 30-year-old Jason Chess, Oakland police said today. Police said the shooting occurred in the 10600 block of MacArthur Boulevard and was reported at 11:36 a.m. Tuesday.

Responding officers found Chess suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. No motive has been released and police haven’t made any arrests in connection with the case.
