A man was shot and injured while sitting in his car in an Alameda parking lot this afternoon, according to police. The man was parked in a lot on the 1900 block of Webster Street shortly before 4 p.m. when he was struck in the arm by a large-caliber bullet, said Sgt. Wayland Gee. The victim fled into a nearby restaurant, and the suspects, described only as two adult males, fled the scene. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at an Alameda County hospital.
The shooting remains under investigation and the motive remains unclear. Nothing was taken from the victim. The shooting was the second of the day in Alameda. Around 2:10 p.m., police received multiple calls regarding a group of men and women with guns on the 2700 block of Orion Street. While officers were en route, police received further calls reporting that shots had been fired.
However, by the time officers arrived on scene, the suspects had fled the scene. No victims were found, and the cause of the shooting remains unknown at this point. The two shootings do not appear to be related, Gee said.
