Oakland police and Alameda County sheriff’s deputies are in a standoff with a suspect who has barricaded himself inside a home in Oakland tonight, a sheriff’s official said.  The incident began at around 8 p.m. when officers attempted to stop the suspect, who was in a vehicle that was reported stolen, a sheriff’s deputy said.

After a brief vehicle pursuit, the man ran away from the vehicle and into a house in the 500 block of High Street that authorities believe may belong to a family member.  The deputy said there may be other people inside the home.
