One person was stabbed and another pistol-whipped in separate incidents in Oakland on Monday night, an Oakland police officer said. Six suspects attempted to rob a victim in the 1400 block of 36th Avenue at around 9:30 p.m., police said.

One of the suspects was armed with a gun and pistol-whipped the victim, who was later transported to a hospital with minor injuries.Minutes later, at 9:38 p.m., police received a report that someone had been stabbed in the 600 block of Beacon Street, near the entrance to Interstate Highway 580 in the Lake Merritt area. The victim suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
