* Two men arrested for allegedly hitting a horse in the head with a hammer in Porterville

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reports that they have arrested Martin Padilla and Maximo Rodriguez for alleged animal cruelty. Deputies responded to Porterville after receiving calls that a horse was being beat with a sledgehammer. When deputies arrived they found the horse tied to a trailer with head injuries. Animal control also responded and had to euthanize the animal. Both suspects were booked into the county jail.
