Three people were arrested after a shooting in Union City today that left one man injured. Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4400 block of Corto Monterey shortly before 1 p.m. and found a 21-year-old Union City man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Police said a verbal argument broke out at the home and became physical.
One suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting and all of the suspects ran away in different directions. A nearby officer spotted a man who matched the suspect’s description and detained him after a brief chase. The suspect was later identified as 23-year-old Jabri Thibeaux of Union City, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, conspiracy and resisting arrest and was booked into Fremont Jail, police said. A short time later, officers went to a nearby home to follow up on the investigation and a second suspect ran out of the rear of the home and began jumping fences as detectives entered, according to police.
The officers detained the suspect, a 17-year-old male whose name is not being released because of his age. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and conspiracy and was taken to juvenile hall. Officers also arrested 18-year-old Malysa Thibeaux of Union City in connection with the shooting, police said. Police said she was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, conspiracy and resisting arrest.
