The San Jose Police Department is currently investigating the City’s 16th homicide of 2012. On Saturday, May 26th, at approximately 11:56 P.M., the San Jose Police Department’s 9-1-1 communications center received multiple calls of a possible person shot in the area of the 1600 block of Virginia Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located two shooting victims. One of the victims, a 16 year old San Jose Resident, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:06 A.M. The second shooting victim was transported to a local hospital with at least one non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Preliminary investigation into the shooting revealed that the two victims were standing near the corner of King Road and Virginia Avenue when the unknown suspect(s) approached them. The suspect(s) fired several rounds striking both victims. The suspects then fled the scene and remain at-large. This incident is believed to be gang motivated. The San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is currently investigating this case.
This incident marks San Jose’s 16th homicide of 2012. This was the 7th gang-related homicide of 2012.
