A couple walking in unincorporated Redwood City this week was held up and robbed at gunpoint, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said today. The two victims, a 23-year-old Redwood City man and a 23-year-old Oakland woman, were walking near 2950 Calvin Avenue on Thursday around 9:15 p.m. when they were approached by two suspects, said Sgt. Encarnacion Gonzalez.
One suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the victims and demanded that they drop their wallets, purse and cellphones on the ground, Gonzalez said. The victims complied, and the suspects grabbed their belongings and fled east on Berkshire Avenue toward Middlefield Road. Police searched the area following the robbery, but did not locate the suspects.
Neither victim was injured. The suspects were described as black males ages 17-20 years old, both around 5 feet 8 inches tall and between 130 and 160 pounds. One wore black square-framed glasses, dark jeans and a black hoodie with a white zipper, while the other wore a dark-colored shirt and a dark-colored hoodie.
