A field worker was arrested Wednesday for the murder of a man found dead down an embankment in unincorporated Monterey County, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. The victim’s body was discovered May 16 near Corral de Tierra, about 30 feet down on embankment off Laureles Grade Road east of state Highway 68. Investigators found few documents regarding the victim, a young Hispanic male, but identified him as Daniel Anzur Cisneros.
While Cisneros’ precise date of birth has yet to be determined, investigators believe he was 31 years old. Investigators later concluded that Cisneros had died from stab wounds and that Jorge Alberto Diaz Flores, 29, a field worker from Salinas, was responsible for his death. Flores was booked into Monterey County Jail on Wednesday. Investigators are currently seeking leads to confirm Cisneros’ identity and are working with the Mexican Consular to locate family.
Anyone with information about the investigation has been asked to call the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office at (831) 755-3772.
