* North Monterey County Music Department Band equipment stolen worth $80,000

A truck full of musical equipment worth roughly $80,000 was stolen from North County Monterey High School’s music department sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office responded reports of the theft at the school, located at 13990 Castroville Blvd. in Castroville, at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The director of the music program told investigators that the large 1996 Isuzu cargo truck had been stolen overnight.The truck had “North Monterey County Music Department” printed in large black letters on its side, and has a license plate number of E1017936. The truck contained instruments belonging to both the school and individual students, as well as equipment for the marching band, color guard signs, flags and other equipment. The total value of the loss is estimated to be $79,565.
