Oakland police called off a search this morning for several carjacking suspects who crashed the stolen car after a brief chase by police, an Oakland police officer said. The carjacking was reported at around 1:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Rosedale Avenue, police said.
A police officer spotted the stolen car about fifteen minutes later and pursued it. The suspects fled, but lost control of the car and crashed it about a minute later in the 2400 block of High Street, police said.
The suspects fled on foot, and police established a perimeter in the area and called in a SWAT team to search for the suspects. By early this morning, the suspects were still at large, and police called off the search at 5:37 a.m.
