A suspect was hospitalized late Sunday night after a police officer shot him during a confrontation in the backyard of a Napa home, police said early this morning.Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, a Napa police officer contacted a male in the 2100 block of Parrish Road, police said.A foot chase began, and the officer caught up to the male in a backyard, where the two struggled, police said.
Police said that during the struggle, the officer shot at the suspect, hitting him. The suspect was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa where he was still being treated this morning, police said. Following police department policy, the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave. No further information was available this morning.
