The Houston Police Department’s Arson Bureau is searching for two suspects responsible for setting a bar ablaze while patrons were barricaded inside. One suspect has been identified as Jaime Mata, who is charged with felony Arson. The second suspect remains unidentified, and both are at large.
On April 19, 2012, two Hispanic males were removed from a bar located on the 8000 block of Harrisburg in Houston, TX. After being removed by bar staff, the two suspects approached the front door, closed the burglar bars and barricaded the door with a large piece of wood. Surveillance video then shows the suspects moving to the back of the business and pouring gasoline around the back exit. They then ignited the gasoline, while the bar’s patrons were barricaded inside. Customers at the bar were able to safely evacuate through a third exit, and no injuries were reported.
The first suspect has been identified at Jaime Mata. Mata was charged with felony Arson, and warrant number 1345385 was issued for his arrest. Mata remains at large.
