Parents in San Ramon are being alerted to an incident Wednesday in which an unidentified man stopped his car and pestered a young girl on her way to school, police said today. A third-grade girl was walking to Golden View Elementary School in the 5000 block of Canyon Crest Drive around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday when a man got out of his car and asked if she wanted a ride to school, Principal Nancy White said in an email to parents.

The girl refused the man’s offer and ran onto the school campus, police said.  She saw the man get back into his car, described as a faded light blue truck, possibly a Dodge Ram, Lt. Dan Pratt said. Officers in the area have been alerted to look out for that type of car driven by a man who matches the suspect description. The suspect is described as a 40- to 50-year-old white man with dark eyes and facial hair. He was wearing a ski-type knit hat and a brown shirt at the time of the incident, police said.
