Police said today they have located a taxicab that was used in a kidnapping and armed robbery in Antioch Thursday night of the cab’s driver, who was forced into the car’s trunk. The cab was found unoccupied and without significant damage this morning near 83rd Avenue in Oakland, Antioch police said. Antioch police investigators are now examining the vehicle for evidence.

Around 11 p.m. Thursday, a cab driver stopped the yellow 1998 Lincoln Town Car to pick up three passengers at the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART  station and drove them to an apartment complex off of Delta Fair Boulevard in  Antioch, police said. Once there, one of the passengers pulled out a gun and robbed the 45-year-old cab driver, police said. The suspect then ordered the driver out of the taxi and into the car’s trunk.  Police said the trio drove the cab to Oakland, where they released the victim unharmed. Once freed, the cab driver flagged down a passing car and called police shortly after midnight. Though the taxi was found this morning, the three suspects remain at large, police said.

The suspect with the gun is described as a black man in his mid 20s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall and weighing 145 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white lining Thursday night.

Police said the second suspect is described as someone of a similar race who weighs between 170 and 180 pounds and was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.  The third suspect is described as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, police said.
