A man was arrested on weapons charges after tossing away a handgun while trying to run away from police in Watsonville on Thursday night, according to police.An officer tried to stop a pedestrian for a vehicle code violation shortly after 10:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Carey Avenue, but the pedestrian fled.The officer chased after the man and saw him discard a large-caliber revolver as he ran away.

He eventually caught up to the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Marcos Robles, and used a Taser to subdue him, police said.A second man, Carlos Zepeda, 30, was arrested for allegedly delaying and obstructing the officer who made the arrest, according to police. Robles was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying a concealed firearm in public and resisting arrest. Both Robles and Zepeda were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
