Deputies near Half Moon Bay arrested five people after an apparent shooting on Monday, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. At about 10:55 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a single gunshot fired near a dead end on Nasturtium Road, according to the sheriff’s office. Arriving deputies contacted a group of five males, one of whom was walking away from the group carrying a rifle. The suspect, later identified as Felix Garduno-Vega, 18, of Half Moon Bay, was halted at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident, deputies said.
The rifle that Garduno-Vega was carrying was loaded, according to the sheriff’s office, and a spent bullet consistent with the rifle’s caliber was allegedly found in his possession. Garduno-Vega was also carrying a large knife, deputies said, and he was subsequently arrested for possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon. Two other men and a juvenile male in the group were contacted and found to be intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office. The juvenile was arrested for public intoxication and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
Daniel Rodriguez, 18, and Raul Villa, 28, both of Half Moon Bay, were arrested for public intoxication. A fifth suspect, Jose Lopez, 22, was allegedly carrying a cutting instrument and was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon.
