A 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a house in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Monday and beating a resident with a crowbar, police said. Officers responded to a report of a burglary and beating at a home in the 1100 block of Ingerson Avenue at 8:21 a.m. Monday.

The 32-year-old victim told 911 dispatchers that a man broke into his house and beat him with the crowbar while he was showering, according to police. The resident said he was struck several times by the suspect, who then fled, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The responding officers soon found someone matching the suspect’s description walking near Ingalls Street and Gilman Avenue, police said.

He began running and tossed the crowbar over a fence as the officers gave chase, police said. He was eventually taken into custody in the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Avenue after resisting arrest and injuring two officers, according to police.

One of the officers suffered cuts and the other suffered a hand injury, police said. The suspect, 22-year-old DeAngelo Winston, was identified by the victim as his attacker and was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a burglary tool and resisting arrest, according to police.
