A man was arrested after shooting a gun at another man inside a home in San Mateo on Wednesday evening, police said. The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Santa Clara Avenue. Officers responded and found the unharmed victim, who told them that the suspect was still in the residence, according to police.

Officers contacted the suspect inside the home and identified him as Christopher Damico, 25, of Daly City, police said. Investigators determined that Damico and the victim, a 31-year-old transient, got into a fight and Damico fired a handgun at the victim. The pair know each other, according to police. The handgun was found in the home and Damico was booked into county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Police sent a phone message to residents in the area advising them to stay inside while the suspect’s home was secured.
