Investigators have arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of stabbing and critically wounding another man in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood over the weekend, a police spokesman said today.
Ernesto Tun-Catzin was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and other charges in connection with the stabbing, which was reported at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Leavenworth Street, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. The 19-year-old victim was walking with a friend when the suspect, who was with a group of people, challenged the victim to a fight, Esparza said. An altercation ensued and the victim was stabbed multiple times, according to Esparza. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are considered life-threatening.The suspect fled, but the victim’s friend, who had also been punched during the fight, gave police a description of him. Officers canvassed the area and arrested Tun-Catzin a short time later in the 200 block of Turk Street, Esparza said.
