Santa Rosa police released photos today of a man suspected of setting at least six vehicles on fire within one hour on April 1.
The arsons occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight in the Valley West Drive, West Third Street and Fulton Road area of west Santa Rosa, Sgt. Michael Lazzarini said.
Several residences in the neighborhood have outdoor video cameras and one of the cameras captured images of the arson suspect, Lazzarini said. On the video, the suspect, in his late teens or early 20s, is seen trying to open the doors of vehicles parked in the driveway. The doors were locked and the suspect is seen walking away from the house, Lazzarini said.
The suspect stole property, including small electronics, sunglasses and currency, from vehicles that were left unlocked before setting them on fire, Lazzarini said. Police are asking the public to help identify the suspect from the black and white photos. The white or Hispanic suspect is wearing a dark baseball cap with an emblem on the front, a short sleeve shirt and jeans.
