Police have released a sketch of a suspect in the murder of a 42-year-old Watsonville man who was shot while mowing a lawn outside a southern Santa Cruz County home on Tuesday evening. Rafael Cendejas was shot and killed around 6:10 p.m. in the 300 block of Dutchman Road, sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy April Skalland said.

The neighborhood is located just north of Watsonville and east of Pinto Lake. Cendejas was mowing the lawn when someone got out of the car and opened fire, hitting him, Skalland said. The shooter then got back into the vehicle and left the scene.
