* Transient Found Dead Behind FoodMaxx on Monument Blvd. in Concord is City’s First Murder

A 49-year-old transient was found dead behind a shopping center in Concord this morning, marking the city’s first homicide of 2012, according to police. Officers and fire personnel responded to a call at about 7:30 a.m. about an unconscious homeless person at a FoodMaxx shopping center at 1751 Monument Blvd.
The man was found behind a vacant video store in a makeshifthomeless encampment. Paramedics determined the man was dead. He appeared to have been assaulted, according to police.
