Oakland police helped capture two teen boys this week who allegedly carjacked an elderly woman and committed a robbery in Los Angeles. The juveniles, part of a group of three, allegedly escaped from a group home in Los Angeles on Tuesday before committing the string of crimes, Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said.
Los Angeles police contacted Oakland police after using software-tracking technology to track the suspects and vehicle to the area. On Wednesday, around 10 a.m., Oakland police stopped the stolen vehicle, now occupied by four females, in the 3600 block of Foothill Boulevard. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, the other passengers were identified and released.
Following the vehicle stop, Oakland police were able to locate and arrest two of the missing juveniles. The third remains at large. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland Police Department’s Major Crimes Section at (510) 238-3326 or the TIP LINE at (510) 773-2805.
