Police from San Francisco’s Bayview Station on Monday arrested a robbery suspect and also connected him to a carjacking in the area from a day earlier. The robbery was reported at 10:16 p.m. Monday near Bacon and Holyoke streets in the city’s Portola neighborhood, according to police. A 24-year-old woman was jogging when she was approached from behind by a suspect armed with a handgun, who ordered her to hand over her iPhone, then got into a waiting vehicle and fled, police said.

The victim, who was uninjured, gave officers a description of the car, which was broadcast to police citywide. A short time later, police stopped a car matching the description at Seventh and Stevenson streets in the city’s South of Market neighborhood and realized it was the same car that had been stolen from a man in the city’s Silver Terrace neighborhood early Sunday morning. That carjacking was reported around 2 a.m. Sunday and involved a 23-year-old victim who was punched and had his hand bitten by suspects, who then stole his 2011 Toyota RAV4.

Two suspects who were stopped in the vehicle near Seventh and Stevenson streets ran from officers, who were able to chase down one of them and arrest him near Hyde and McAllister streets, police said. Officers brought the victim to the suspect’s location and she identified him as the robber, and also said the vehicle looked like the same car as the one she saw earlier, according to police.

The Police Department’s robbery task force has since tied the suspect and vehicle to two other robberies that occurred in the city’s Ingleside neighborhood within minutes of the Portola one, police said. The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, was arrested and booked at the department’s Southern Station. The carjacked vehicle is also being held for processing of evidence, police said. The second suspect remains outstanding
