A 19-year-old man was stabbed several times Wednesday afternoon in Santa Rosa in what appears to have been a gang-related attack, police said. Officers were called around 1:40 p.m. to the area of West Ninth Street and North Dutton Avenue, where they found the victim, a Santa Rosa man, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso, Santa Rosa police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he is now expected to survive, police said. Police said it appears that the victim and another person were walking west in the 300 block of West Ninth Street toward North Dutton Avenue when the suspect ran up to the victim from behind and attacked him.
The suspect then fled in a vehicle, which was last seen traveling east on West Ninth Street, police said. The stabbing is being investigated by the department’s gang crimes team.
