Five people were found dead in a home near City College of San Francisco this morning and investigators are still trying to determine what led to the deaths, police officials said. The multiple homicides were reported at 7:47 a.m. at 16 Howth St. Someone with a key to the two-story home entered this morning and found three people dead, then called 911. Officers arrived and found the three victims, and also found two others elsewhere in the home, police Cmdr. Lyn Tomioka said.

Police are still trying to determine how the victims, three Asian women and two Asian men, were killed but police Chief Greg Suhr said some were shot.  A man was found in the threshold of the home, a man and woman were found in the garage, another woman was found upstairs and a third woman was found downstairs, Suhr said.  The case is believed to be isolated to the house, Tomioka said.  She said “we don’t believe we have a manhunt on our hands at this time,” but said investigators have not yet determined whether the case is a murder-suicide or who might have been responsible for the deaths.

The medical examiner, homicide investigators, crime scene investigators and officials from the district attorney’s office were at the scene as of 11:15 a.m. Tomioka said the crime scene is complex and that “it will be a slow process with that many victims.”  Police have also contacted neighbors to see if they witnessed anything relevant to the case, she said.  Howth Street remained closed between Ocean and Geneva avenues as of 11:15 a.m.
