Police found marijuana and a stolen gun in a Vallejo man’s car during a traffic stop in Petaluma on Tuesday evening — and then learned the man was out of jail on bail, police said. Around 7:40 p.m., a Petaluma police officer pulled over Ahman Burns, 23, for a traffic violation in the 1000 block of Lakeville Highway. The officer, along with his K-9 partner, noticed what appeared to be marijuana buds partly exposed in the car, police said.
That prompted a full search of the car, during which the officer found 1.7 pounds of marijuana and a loaded 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat, according to police. It was later determined that the gun was stolen. Burns had been released on bail from Humboldt County, where he was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and possession of a loaded firearm, according to police. Petaluma police arrested him on suspicion of committing a criminal offense while out on bail, possessing a stolen, loaded firearm, and possessing and transporting marijuana for sale.
