Santa Rosa police arrested on Monday a 30-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a student at Santa Rosa Junior College last week. The victim, a 23-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was in a class with the suspect, police said. After the evening class last Thursday, they walked to an unoccupied area on campus, located at 1501 Mendocino Ave., which is where the assault occurred, according to police. Police identified the suspect as Marco DeAnde-Vargas of Santa Rosa. He was arrested on suspicion of forcible rape and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility in Santa Rosa.
