Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly robbed, pistol-whipped and fired shots at a man in his car at a Hercules strip mall Wednesday night. A 28-year-old man was sitting in his parked car in front of the MetroPCS store in the Creekside Center strip mall located at 1511 Sycamore Ave. around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday when two men approached him.
One suspect got into the car’s passenger seat and said, “Break yourself!” while pointing a revolver at the victim, while a second suspect approached on the driver’s side, police said. The victim told police that he pushed the gun down, prompting one of the suspects to punch him in the back of the head. The armed suspect then regained control of the gun and pistol-whipped the man across the face, police said.
Police said the victim gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of cash. The armed suspect then pulled the gun’s trigger twice and aimed at the victim but misfired. The two suspects then fled the area. Hercules police searched the area with the help of Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies, Pinole police and the California Highway Patrol but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim suffered moderate facial injuries in the attack. He was treated and released at the scene, police said.
