A 47-year-old man died after he was shot multiple times in front of a home in Fairfield Monday night, police said. Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Utah and Hayes streets around 8:40 p.m. Arriving officers found a 47-year-old Fairfield resident shot multiple times in front of a home in the 1100 block of Hayes Street. The victim was airlifted to a trauma center where he later succumbed to his gunshot wounds, police said.

Witnesses said a suspect was seen running from the scene, police said. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing dark clothing. Police said there is no indication the shooting is gang-related or is connected to the Feb. 1 shooting that killed 20-year-old Jesus Amaya in the same location. Police have yet to release the identity of the victim from Monday night’s shooting.
