San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force Press Release 3/9/12

A tip from a concerned citizen led to an undercover investigation involving a residence located in the 1200 Block of 31st Avenue, San Mateo. The single family residence, located in a relatively quiet neighborhood was being utilized to conceal an illegal indoor marijuana growing operation. Agents from the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force (SMCNTF) in cooperation with the San Mateo Police department executed a search warrant yesterday afternoon, Thursday March 8, 2012.

One suspect was arrested at the residence without incident on charges associated with the cultivation of marijuana. Agents seized over 530 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. The potential street value of the marijuana plants is approximately $400,000. This marijuana cultivating operation was a strictly for profit endeavor with no known association with the medical marijuana industry. (YTD – the SMCNTF has seized over 3500 plants and 19 pounds of processed marijuana from 5 grow locations).

The investigation is on-going and agents are still actively gathering and analyzing evidence that may result in additional charges and/or the identification of co-conspirators. The occupant of the residence, Lin TANG, is currently in custody at the Maguire Correctional facility. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday March 12, 2012 @ 1:30 pm at the San Mateo County Northern Superior Court..
